Mercedes Benz India - Hybrid Cars, New Models and Double Digit Growth

01 February, 2010, 10:10 IST by Payal Pathak

It is the age of green cars and not even luxury car makers are lacking in their effort. After Toyota and Honda, Mercedes Benz is planning to introduce its hybrid cars. “We are very keen to launch hybrid cars in India. But it would be possible only when these cars hit the right-hand drive markets,” said Mercedes-Benz India chief executive officer and managing director Wilfried Aulbur. There may not be any immediate plans from Mercedes to introduce these models in the Indian markets but the company has certainly not denied a possibility of the same.

Mercedes recently launched two new variants of its S-class models and earlier it launched the E-class models in India. The company has also announced that it has slew of new launches lined up for the Indian market. It now plans to introduce an upgraded model of M-class and the E-coupe amongst few other models slated for India launch.

Mercedes is also hoping for double digit growth in India. 'We hope that the current bunch of launches and a few more in the coming months will drive the growth this year. We also will be launching a few more variants in the next few months to give customers the most luxurious line-up to choose from across the series,' Aulbur said.
