First time ever: Crossed the 3000 cars sales figure mark by the third quarter of a year.
500+ S Class cars sold during January-September 2008.
Over 1450 C Class cars sold between January-September 2008.
Mumbai–Mercedes-Benz India has posted record sales in the first three quarters of the year 2008, its sales are already crossing 3000 cars! January-September 2008 sales figures stand at 3001 vehicles, which reflects a growth of 56% over the same period in 2007.
“Our impressive performance this year continues – we are delighted to cross the 3000 sales figure mark for the first time and have already set our sights on many more. This impressive performance in an otherwise fluctuating economy is commendable. Mercedes-Benz has proved again that it is the luxury car of choice for the Indian customer. We are confident that in the coming months and years. We will continue to grow and remain competitive in an already ultra dynamic market” commented Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.
By the end of the third quarter of 2008, the S Class, the leading luxury vehicle from the Mercedes-Benz stable sold a total of 524 units. This marks a growth of 64% over January-September 2007.
The new C Class made its debut at the Auto Expo in January 2008 and has won hearts of customers with its bold looks and aggressive stance. The company sold more than 1450 units in India in January-September 2008 which is 135% over C Class sales in the corresponding period in 2007.
The hugely popular E Class continues to be the favorite of the Indian customer with a sales figure of 921cars between January-September 2008. Two new engine variants were also added to the E Class line in this period; the E 220 CDI and the E 230, making the E Class the most comprehensive product with the largest number of variants in the luxury car market in India.
Mr. Sanjiv Sahajwala, Director- Sales and Marketing of Mercedes-Benz India added: “The luxury car portfolio from Mercedes-Benz has the largest scope and depth at present in India. Our customers appreciate that they can get the latest and the best from the Mercedes-Benz stable, backed by the most extensive after-sales service network as compared to any luxury player in India… a critical enabler towards maintaining traction in the Indian market.”
