Maruti Suzuki India Limited introduced two new models last year that included the latest small car model Maruti Ritz with new K-series engine. The company started exporting its other model – Maruti A-Star last year to European countries and was quite successful under scrappage scheme as well. It was sold as Suzuki Splash in the European nations. The small car sales in Europe have gone down considerably after the end of scrappage scheme and now MSIL has started venturing into new markets.

MSIL has started exporting its model Maruti Ritz to South East Asian countries and the first shipment of 500 cars has been shipped for the Indonesian markets. "Indonesia is a prime destination for Ritz. On Wednesday, the first lot of 500 units of Ritz, sporting 1.2 litre petrol engine are being dispatched to Indonesia," a senior company official said. Ritz is available in two variants-1.2 litre petrol and a 1.3 litre diesel engine.
Maruti is already exporting its model A-star to 44 countries including Europe and few South East Asian countries like Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan. "A-star and Ritz represent important steps by an Indian company to emerge as a car manufacturer with global appeal. It is in line with parent Suzuki Motor Corp's vision of turning India into a global hub for compact cars," the official said.
