Maruti Recalls 1 Lakh A-Star Models in India

24 February, 2010, 10:10 IST by Payal Pathak

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti is recalling one lakh A-Star models from the Indian market. The recall began in November last year but MSIL did not disclose the same until February now. Although the company had already informed about the same to European regulatory authorities, it did not divulge the details about the same to its investors.

Global Auto industry is still grappling with quality control issues and Maruti Suzuki’s recall comes as an aftershock. Maruti A-Star models have a faulty gasket that may result in fuel leaks. So far there have been no reports of any trouble from the customer end and the recall comes only as a preventative measure.

“We are changing fuel pump gasket and O ring at no cost to customer. We are midway through the checking activity and hope to complete it soon. The final cost arrived at on this account will be shared with the supplier partner,” said MSIL’s official spokesperson. The models being recalled belong to batches made till August 22, 2009.

1 A-star every minutes means 360 A-star a day. Incredible. Thanks A-star customers across the world
@lokesh Maruti will replace fuel pump gaskets and O-rings. The parts will be replaced for absolutely free of charge. All the respective dealers in the city are found and indicated by Maruti. The dealers will call them in-personnel (incase their A-star needs to be checked). Other A-star customers need not have to worry.

nothing new, maruti sells crap cars, all this while customers paid through their noses for their faults. Btw shashank they are not doing a favour on customers. Also didnt you read the article carefully it says they started recalling cars in Nov but they made it public now. Its a shame, what are you talking about appreciating.

Shome nath dont be so dumb what it means that maruti a star had a manufacturing defect in a part and now they are asking owners to come to them so that they would replace that part. Easy to understand now.
