Maruti Increases Prices of its Models

January 18, 2010, 10:10 IST by Payal Pathak

Maruti Suzuki India Limited had earlier announced that it will be increasing the price of its popular models in India. The new prices have come into effect from January 16 whereby the prices of the models have increased from few hundred rupees up to Rs. 10,000 per car. Apart from its recently launched model Maruti Eeco and petrol variants of Swift and Gypsy, prices of all other models have increased.

"The price increase is to recover partly the increase in the input costs arising out of raw material costs over the past one year. For some models the increase in the costs are being absorbed by the company, in the light of market situation," said statement from MSIL.

The average price increase of the models is around 0.6 percent. The highest increase has been on the Swift Dzire model, which will now cost about Rs 10,000 more, followed by the Swift Diesel, the Wagon R and the SX4 models, which are costlier by around Rs 6,500, Rs 3,700 and Rs 2,000, respectively. The Maruti 800, the Alto, the Omni, the A-star and the Ritz, however, have just seen Rs 600 price hike. The Zen Estilo is now pricier by Rs. 1243 to Rs 2486.
