India's most trusted car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, introduced Maruti Suzuki Eeco in the MPV segment of the Indian auto sector. Before hitting the roads, this family car had been under development for over three years. The model comes with a three-row and two-row seating arrangement to accommodate five to seven occupants.
Maruti Eeco Vs Maruti Omni- Dimension
Maruti Eeco sports the exterior appearance of Maruti Versa, although the dimensions have been revised. Its front end is slightly reworked keeping in mind the aerodynamic aspect. The extended Eeco measures 3675 mm in length in comparison to 3370 mm length of Omni. Width and height of Eeco are 1475 mm and 1800 mm, thus making it bigger than Maruti Omni, which was 1410 mm wide and 1640 mm high. Maruti Eeco comes with a large bumper and large 13 inch tyres.

Maruti Eeco is a step ahead from Maruti Omni in context of interior designing and spaciousness. Better quality material and various decorative elements characterise the contemporary styling of Eeco. Similarly, seating arrangement has become more comfortable than the seating system used in Omni. Instrument panel is another distinguishable aspect, which is well-finished than the average-looking instrument meters in Omni. This family MPV also feature an effective air-conditioning system to ensure comfortable driving pursuit. However, absence of power steering is a common trait in the two models by Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
Maruti Eeco Vs Maruti Omni - Engine
Maruti Eeco is powered by an efficient 1.2 L, 4 cylinder motor that has capacity to churn out 73 bhp at 6,000 rpm. Moreover, it has peak torque of 101 Nm at 3000 rpm. Its engine is backed by a swift 5-speed manual transmission mechanism for best-in-class on-road experience. In context of pick up, Eeco does decently as it races from 0 to 100 kmph in 17 seconds.
On the other hand, Maruti Omni comes with an underpowered engine of 786 cc displacement. This engine delivers power output of 38 bhp at 5000 rpm and has maximum torque of 59 Nm at 3000 rpm. Coupled with a 5-speed gearbox, Maruti Omni is comparatively slow to pick up than Eeco, racing from 0 to 100 kmph in 20 seconds. Furthermore, Omni records top speed of 126 kmph in comparison to 142 kmph of Eeco.
Maruti Eeco Vs Maruti Omni - Handling and Performance
Maruti Eeco has come a long way in terms of handling, being integrated with an improved suspension and deceleration mechanism. Maruti Suzuki has impressed industry experts by coming up with an MPV that offers better handling than that of the Maruti Omni. With more turning radius than Omni, Eeco offers substantially better drive quality to passengers.
Maruti Eeco Vs Maruti Omni – Price
The price quotient is another factor that fuels the battle between these two models. Maruti Omni in India is priced between Rs. 1.99 lacs and Rs. 3.02 lacs, whereas Maruti Eeco comes at a premium cost of Rs. 2.73 lacs to Rs. 3.63. Comparing the prices of these two, Maruti Omni emerges as the winner although Eeco comes with more comfort features.
