Mahindra and Mahindra is planning launch its pickup trucks and utility vehicles in the US market. The company will announce the launch date in next 2-3 weeks, said a M&M senior official. He also stated that an application has been made to the US Environment Protection Agency for the vehicles to pass certain tests.

"The process is taking a bit longer than what we anticipated," said Pawan Goenka, president and member of the management board. M&M intends to become a global player and has big plans to venture into various overseas markets beginning with the American market. "Since our long-term aspiration is to be known as the premier SUV and pick-up manufacturer in the world, it is but natural that we must sell and be successful in the U.S.," he said. "Without that we cannot call ourselves a premier player in that segment." Mahindra trucks will compete with Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma models.

M&M will also start selling its Xylo model in the European markets from this yearend or early 2011. This will be its next big venture in the European markets. It is currently the biggest player in the SUV segment in India will hot selling models like Mahindra Bolero, Xylo and Scorpio.
