After extensive planning and diligent efforts, Mahindra and Mahindra is all set to foray in the US market with its latest and most upgraded model of the Mahindra Scorpio. According to M&M, the model is completely compliant with the US safety norms. It also complies with other US auto norms and regulatory standards. Initially the model will be imported as a completely built in America till the company starts its own production there.

M&M has a joint venture with Navistar in the US that will assist the company in marketing the model across the US market. M&M has recently launched new commercial vehicles in India. Marketing of the model will be done through a distributor which has at least 300 dealers. The model will go on sale in April 2010 and will compete with equivalent Ford and GM models in the US market. The USP for the model will be its fuel efficiency and value for money.

M&M has experienced a drop in production in last quarter due to lack of availability of auto components in the market. It experienced 5 percent loss in production but hopes that things will be better by April as the downfall in auto components is expected to continue up to March 2010.
