Mahindra Reva to price NXR electric car 20 percent higher in its segment

Mahindra Reva, the only electric car maker in the Indian market, is planning to position their upcoming electric car Reva NXR with a price tag of about 20 percent higher as compared to the conventional petrol run variants. The new electric car is expected to be priced in the segment of Hyundai i20 and Skoda Fabia.
The new Reva NXR model is expected to have a top speed of 100 km per hour. The company is looking forward to sell about 30,000 units over the periods of next three year, out of which about 15,000 units will be sold to the overseas markets.
Speaking to the reporters in the National Capital, Mr. Pawan Goenka, president-automotive, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, "For the success of electric cars, affordability is the key. And we have learnt that the customer may not be able to pay more than 15-20% premium on electric cars. Our endeavor is to offer our products within that range. The extension of subsidy through new electric vehicle policy will be the key."
