Recently a Mahindra Bolero Marathon was hosted in South India by Mahindra and Mahindra to highlight fuel efficiency of its SUV model Bolero. 32 Mahindra Boleros participated in the 58 km Marathon and the clear winner, Mr Seby, clocked a mileage of 35.15 kmpl. The first runner up was James C.K. whose Bolero clocked average of 31.35 kmpl and the second runner up was Jamseer T.S. clocking an average of 28.79 kmpl.
“The Mahindra Bolero Mileage Marathon in Kochi gave a clear idea on fuel efficiency of India’s No. 1 SUV. A testament to this is the winning mileage of 35.15 kms/litre clocked by Seby K B. The Bolero’s superior value proposition, style and rugged appeal coupled with our customer-centric approach to business have been major contributors to its success over the years,” said Vivek Nayer, senior vice-president – Marketing, Auto Sector, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.
The event was a great success as the families participated with great enthusiasm and winners received exciting prizes. There were various special events for the participants to entertain themselves. M&M first launched Bolero in 2001 and the new Bolero with enhanced design and style was launched in 2007. Later in September 2008, it introduced Bolero VLX powered with CRDe technology and in October 2008 Bolero SLX with Micro hybrid technology was launched.

No doubt Mahindra Bolero is an awesome vehicle, but 35.15 kms/lit is simply misleading mileage number. I wish the company makes sure of what they post on the internet (not just for advertising sake), but to maintain the customer trust. if bolero for sure gives 35.15 kms/lit mileage, then they need to claim it openly and also prove it... :)

Yes, I agree with gopalakrishnan, when such tests are conducted, the manufactureres give importance to only mileage and use it as boosting factor for the car.It will be a fair deal if complete information on how the test conducted and how they could achieve such mileage.
Its quite common that the general user of the can not always drive in constant speed, very good road, no traffic signals, etc Shiva ,CarTrade Expert (December 10, 2009)

If that is the case kindly let us know the vehicle has to be driven in which km speed , which type of road & in which speed gear. It's certainly unbelivable. Accordingly we can also check.
