Land Rover Confirms Rover LRX to Go Into Production
Land Rover has confirmed that it will build the production version of its small SUV model the LRX. The new model is expected to go on sale in 2011. The car was first shown at Detroit Motors Show 2008 and the company has not revealed any technical specifications of its concept car so far. However, it stated that it will give full details and specifications by next year.
The new Range Rover LRX features several new design aspects including body-colored roof, Terrain Response System, goblet holders, a wine bottle chiller, and removable speakers. The new model comes as a boost for the company that faces tough times in the current economic scenario. It would add a much-needed economical car to the company's line-up, as every major automaker looks to cut fleet carbon dioxide emissions. Small luxury cars have proven popular in Europe, but Land Rover says it will sell the small Range Rover in 100 countries around the world.
Range Rover LRX will be the smallest, lightest and most efficient vehicle the company has ever produced. It has been designed and engineered at Land Rover's state of the art Gaydon facility.
