Hyundai Rolls Out 25 Lakh Units

08 December, 2009, 10:10 IST by Satish Kalepu

Hyundai Motors India Limited announced that it has reached 25 lakh units mark from its production facility near Chennai. The manufacturing unit was first set up in 1998 and had rolled out the first model of Hyundai Santro hatchback model. Santro has been one of the most successful models and it has performed extremely well in the overseas markets as well as the domestic markets with cumulative sales of 15 lakh.

"It is a proud moment for Hyundai as it is not only the second manufacturer to have achieved this, but also the fastest," HMIL Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Arvind Saxena said. "Before HMIL started exporting 'Made-in-India' cars, we hardly had any presence in the international market. But today they are present in over 100 countries and Indian made cars are acceptable in terms of quality and performance," he further added.

HMIL is India’s largest car exporter and second largest car manufacturer. It currently enjoys 20.5 percent market share in India. It recently recorded highest sales ever in India last month in November. It currently has a cumulative production capacity of manufacturing 600,000 units annually from its two plants.
