Hyundai Motors India Limited unveiled an electric variant of its flagship model i10 at the Delhi Auto Expo today. Hyundai brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan was present to mark this occasion. Hyundai launched the i10 in India in 2007 and this car was an immediate success. The i10 electric model was first showcased at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2009. The i10 electric variant will be powered by a 49kW (66.6PS) electric motor. Instead of a fuel tank, electricity will be stored in its 16 kWh lithium-ion battery pack - the same type of battery powering our cell-phones and other electronic devices.

"Hyundai i10 Electric is a zero-emission vehicle that reconciles motoring with the environmental aspirations of customers looking for a vehicle with the best possible ecological footprint," said HMIL in a statement.
Hyundai also displays an exciting range of its complete product portfolio at the Auto show showcasing its futuristic technology by the means of concept cars. Hyundai already has Santro models in its portfolio that are based on alternate fuel technologies like CNG and LPG.
