Honda Brio – A bestseller soon to be boomed with a diesel variant

July 24, 2012, 10:20 IST by

Launched back in September 2011, Honda Brio was the run-away hit for the Japanese car maker and was recognised as a model that can boost the sales of the auto maker in small car segment by a great measure. And now the company is gearing up to launch a diesel variant of their successful car, which is speculated to be a boon for its sales. The small car is the cheapest offering from the Honda’s stable and is characterised by the cutesy looks. The Japanese brand has made sure that the car has never failed to enchant the buyers with its styling, which is eventually increasing the demand for the same.

With a tag line of 'I am made for you' and 'Because I want your love at first sight', the car does justice to the same being heavy on features and available in irresistible colours. What makes the Brio stand out from its rivals and be a trendsetter is its unique all glass rear end that sets its x-factor a notch above. The model has been receiving lots of accolades due to this uncommon rear end, styling with smoked out effect and low-lined tail lamps. This 5-seater small car comes with an attractive front grille, which is at par with its charismatic rears.

Over the last one year, the prices of petrol have witnessed a major hike, which has contributed to the massive demand for the diesel cars. As of now, the diesel models account to more than 60 per cent of the total industry volume. Considering the situations, the fact that the Honda does not have a diesel variant yet comes as shocking news to the most. However, with the launch of a diesel variant, Brio will become the first diesel car in the company’s portfolio, which will be then followed by the City sedan and Jazz hatchback. According to a Marketing Official of Honda, “With the huge surge in the price of petrol, there is a massive demand for the diesel model. We are already giving discount on our cars but it is not possible beyond a point.”

However, the Japanese company is not the only car maker to hop on the diesel bandwagon as Renault is also set to launch a new diesel model. The German auto giant, Volkswagen is also not too far and is already working on models that will run on CNG. Apart from them, rest of the flock is still trying to lure customers with their petrol models with host of freebies and goodies. Even though there are several companies going the diesel way, Honda Brio, which has been a massive success in its petrol guise is expected to set new benchmarks. The 2012 diesel Brio is anticipated to hit at the Indian shores somewhere during this festive season.
