HM Ambassador with new Diesel Engine
Hindustan Motors plans to boost sales of its age old classic model, Ambassador in India. It plans to sell 12500 units this year with its new fuel efficient diesel engine. The new engines shall be compliant with Bharat Stage 2 and Stage 3 emission norms. It is expected to deliver a mileage of 16kmpl against the 11kmpl mileage from the existing diesel engine. HM shall invest Rs. 6 crores towards upgrading its engines to make them BS-3 compliant.

The new model has also undergone various facelifts and makeovers. The company has also launched a buy-back scheme where owners can exchange their old Ambassadors with a new one at a discount of Rs. 35,000.

The 50 year old model from Hindustan Motors is currently being manufactured by the company in Uttarpara, near Kolkata. It is available as 1.5 litre petrol and CNG version and 2.0 litre diesel engine variants. The car currently has its majority sales in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Delhi and Kerala and has a dealer network of 110 dealers across India.
