Hero Honda launched its Hunk
Hero Honda launched its Hunk in the 150cc segment priced at Rs 55,000 to compete with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar, TVS Apache and Honda Unicorn and add to its product line up includes the CBZ X-treme, Achiever and the Karizma

In a move that will help the company fortify its position in the premium bike segment, Hero Honda recently launched the Hunk in the 150cc segment. The new offering will compete with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar, TVS Apache and Honda Unicorn. With this, the company now has four product offerings in the premium segment, the other being the CBZ X-treme, Achiever and the Karizma. With the launch of the Hunk, we have strengthened our product portfolio in the premium segment, so that our customers looking for a higher powered bike now have a larger variety to choose from within the Hero Honda stable itself, Chairman, Hero Honda Motors (HHML), Brijmohan Lall said.
ATFI technology
Priced at Rs 55,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the kick start and Rs 57,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the self start, Hunk boasts of a lot of new technologies such as an Advanced Tumble Flow Induction (ATFI) technology engine for fuel efficiency and power, delivering 14.2 BHP at 8500 RPM and torque pf 12.80 Nm.
It also has Advanced Microprocessor Ignition System (AMI) with multi-mapping digital CDI along with Carburettor controlled Variable Ignition. It also sports an anti-kick back device, which prevents kick-back during starting for convenience, safe and effortless kick-start.
Targetted at the youth, the Hunk boasts of styling elements, such as large muscular fuel tank and aerodynamic tank shrouds, aggressive visor and trapezoidal multi-reflector head light, muscular rear cowls, raised rear fender, etc. Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director and CEO, HHML, Pawan Munjal said, Some of the key findings of our extensive research amongst the youth have been incorporated into the Hunk to make it a complete package of world class technology, unprecedented features and stunning looks. I am sure there will be many more Hunks on Indian roads soon.
With the introduction of this bike, the company expects to grow in the premium segment of two-wheelers market. The contribution of the premium bike segment this year has gone up from 10 to 14 per cent. The market is growing and with the new model we will offer good choices to customers, said Vice President (Sales and Marketing), HHML, Anil Dua. At present, Bajaj is ruling the market with more than 60 percent market share, compared to Hero Hondas 18 per cent.
20 million milestone
The company recently rolled out 20 millionth (2 crore) bikes and to commemorate this achievement, the company did a campaign called Hero Honda Country. As part of this campaign, Hero Honda Bike-A-Thon was flagged off touching all the cities of the nation starting from Srinagar, Kolhapur, Katihar, Kolkata, Kakinada, Kanyakumari, Chennai and Mangalore, finally concluding at Delhi.
Even as sales in the two-wheeler segment continue to decline, marketers hope to make up for the loss in the ongoing festive season with new launches, discounts and freebies. While Hero Honda hopes to do it with the Hunk, TVS is cashing upon the Flame, expected to be launched soon. Companies are also offering a three-year or 40,000 kms warranty on the 125 cc and 150cc range of models.
