Geneva Auto Show Preview
Geneva Auto Show is one of the most sought auto shows in the world and equals other shows like Frankfurt Auto Show, New York Auto Show, Tokyo Auto Show and likes in standing. This year Geneva Auto show is scheduled to be held from 4th to 14 March 2010. Most of the auto companies around the world are already geared up to preview their best models for the coming years.
Audi has revealed series of official pictures of production model of Audi A1. The car goes on sale in June this year in Europe and will compete with Alfa Romeo MiTo, Citroen DS3, Fiat 500, and Mercedes Benz A-Class. The car is yet not scheduled for a launch in American markets.
Ferrari will be exhibiting its greener technology cars including its hybrid cars. Luca di Montezemolo, the company’s chairman, confirmed Ferrari will bring a hybrid version of the 599 GTB to the Geneva Motor Show in March. He described the hybrid as “a great path towards the future.”
BMW will be unveiling second generation of its SUV X5 at the Geneva Auto Show. The car has undergone significant styling changes on exterior and subtle changes in the interiors. One of the biggest changes in the exterior styling is restyled front bumper assembly that sports repositioned fog lights, enlarged air ducts for improved cooling of the engine and brakes.
Volvo is planning a surprise package with its new 2011 Volvo S60. It had already released its official pictures last year in November. The new model is completely laden with most up to date safety features and technological advancements which includes Ready Alert Brakes, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake and City Safety system, which debuted in XC60. The system enables the car to fully apply brakes at low speeds if it senses that the vehicles is about to crash into something in the front.
Nissan will showcase its latest crossover vehicle Nissan Juke at the auto show. Detailed pricing and features of the car will be available only when the car is formally launched next month.
Porsche intends to bring its redesigned Porsche 911 Turbo S and Turbo S Coupe at the auto show. The first new 911 Turbo S in five years features a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-6 engine rated at 523 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, driving all four wheels through a seven-speed or PDK.
Renault will showcase its new model Wind and Renault Megane Convertible next month at the Show. With the launch of its new-generation Megane Coupe-Cabriolet, Renault will introduce a new range family of compact cars. It will go on sale in Europe in Spring and will compete against Peugeot 308 CC, Opel/Vauxhall Astra Twin Top and Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet. Although the new model keeps the large folding glass roof, it provides extra comfort while driving open air with the addition of a fixed-glass wind deflector located behind the rear headrests.
Renault Wind is the two-seater practical coupe-roadster that features an electric roof that opens in record 12 seconds. The striking feature is that the luggage space remains the same irrespective of the fact whether the roof is closed or open. Autocar reports that the car will have choice of 2 four-cylinder engine in Renault Wind.
Geneva Auto Show is one of the most awaited auto events in Europe especially as most of the countries have emerged from recessionary period and car sales have started picking up. Moreover, auto companies around that world that had been conspicuously absent from the Tokyo Auto Show are expected to participate with full vigor and put their best foot forward.
