Ford Figo In March 2010
Ford was conspicuously absent from the Delhi Auto Expo this year. It had introduced its small car model in India last year – Ford Figo. Now the car is ready to enter the Indian market and will be available at the dealerships from March 2010.
The new Figo will compete with small cars from Maruti, Tata Motors, Chevrolet and Hyundai. The car would come with a 1.19-litre petrol engine and a 1.4-litre diesel engine, with three or four variants in each. The model will be available in seven bright colours of which three are regular colors while four colours will be new scintillating colors to lure Indian customers.
Ford also stated that it will launch a new car in India every 12-18 months. “For us the majority of new launches will be in that segment across the next four to five years,” said Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director, Ford India Pvt Ltd. “Indian drivers now have more choices than ever before in determining how they want to equip and personalise their vehicle”, he added.
The new Ford Figo comes with attractive features such as dash mounted and button operated boot control, instrument panel inspired from that of motorcycle, programmable remote control locking and more. The car will be priced between Rs. 3.5 lakh to Rs. 4.5 lakh depending upon the variant.
