13 August, 2009, 10:10 IST by Satish Kalepu

Fiat is looking at increasing its exports target from India. It is working round the clock to reach out to customers in the right hand markets. It recently launched Fiat Linea in India which received a good response from the Indian customers. Now the company wants to increase its sales by exporting the car to the markets with right-hand drive.

Currently, Fiat is looking at the South African market and intends to market the 1.4L Emotion Pack model in South Africa. Thereafter it intends to export its model to SAARC nations viz., Nepal, Sri Lanka Bhutan, etc. Earlier, Fiat products in South Africa have been imported from its manufacturing plants in Brazil and Europe. It has set its target of exporting 7000 models from its Indian manufacturing unit.

“The Fiat Linea has been extremely well received by customers and auto enthusiasts in India as it has redefined the segment with its superior design, performance and precision engineering. The export of the Linea to South Africa is an integral part of our endeavour to reach out to international markets and establish our presence beyond India,” said Mr. Rajeev Kapoor, CEO, Fiat India Automobiles Limited.
