Fiat Linea Clocks 10,000 Sales

October 06, 2009, 10:10 IST by Satish Kalepu

Fiat India made its foray in India long time back but this time it has managed to turn the table with a complete, brand new image. Fiat Linea was its mid-sized sedan launched in January earlier this year and since then Fiat has sold 10,000 units of the model in the country. Fiat India Automobiles Limited, an equal joint venture between Tata Motors and Italian Fiat Group, also sells Fiat Grand Punto, Palio Stile and Fiat 500 in India.

The growth in sales figures is quite reassuring for Fiat as it had managed to sell 3550 units in the same period last year. Fiat also sold 5000 units of Grand Punto within three months of its launch. "Fiat has been deeply-rooted in the Indian psyche for many decades now and we want to see a lot many Fiat vehicles plying on Indian roads. The milestone achieved by Linea is a testimony that we are inching closer towards this goal," FIAL CEO Rajeev Kapoor said in a press statement.

  • Its really good to hear taht FIAT is back. The cars are actually stronger and sturdier than the flimsy and tinny Suzukis and Hyundais. But customers backed off from FIAT only because of their pathetic service track. If Tata motors doesnot live upto expectations and FIAT doesnot address power concerns, there is no two ways about their future. Maybe this will be their last chance.

  • A very dissatisfied client of Linea… here are my inputs of the Car and the Service quality:- - A/c Functioning is pathetic and Delhi heat seems to be excuse from the showroom - Pick up of the car in the first 3 gears… seems like u have a truck on hand pulling weights - The Emotion Petrol Version is what I own and have already logged in 6000 kms… no improvement on mileage … giving me b/w 10.5 to 11.2 km/L with A/C in city driving - The Rama Motors okhla services sucks.. you send the car in for one thing and they spoil the other … the owner's excuse … "We are use to servicing and managing Indica clients i.e.: the taxi driver clan" Poor attitude to top it all

  • Its really heartening to note that at last FIAT's fortunes have started to change. Being a FIAT fan I personally would have bought a Linea, but for its engine (Diesel). Lacks punch. Fit it with a more powerful engine and there is very long queue waiting.

  • Fiat has recovered its lost ground with the introduction of the Beautiful, Linea, and confirmed its presence and committment with the introduction of Grande Punto, the sale of nos speaks volumes about these two cars. Now Fiat should concentrate on other things like introducing engine options for Disel Linea for example introducing a more powerful diesel say 1.6 lts crdi, with more bhp and automatic versions in diesel , and AT is very relavent in these chaoitic , road raze , traffic madness conditions. And look at the the comfort level when u drive the AT, I drove Verna Diesel, AT, its worth every penny or paisa , so its time Fiat should seriously consider the new variants, if it has to stand the competition.
