Exports likely to contribute 50 percent of the total sales by 2014-15: Bajaj Auto

Please fill your name and email ID to get our daily auto news mailer.The country’s second largest two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has said that the company is expecting their exports to contribute for up to 50 percent of total sales in the coming 3 years. The company is planning to enter in a number of new markets in the coming years including the likes of Argentina and Chile. At present, about 35 percent of the company’s motorcycle sales come from exports.
Speaking to the reporters in the National Capital, Mr. S Ravikumar, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) Senior Vice President (Business Development & Assurance), said, "In the last three years we have doubled our exports. The world is our market and we will continue to find new markets." He added that in the next three years company’s aim is to have 50 per cent of their total sales to come from exports.
In the financial year 2011-12, the total exports of the company surged 31 percent to 15.8 million units. The total revenue from these exports stood at Rs 6,604 crore, which was about 35 percent of the firm’s net sales.
At present, the African Continent alone accounts for about 41 per cent of the total overseas shipments of the company, where Bajaj Auto sells its vehicles in as many as 35 countries.
