DeLorean Planning to Make a Comeback with Pontiac

Rumours are rife again with news churning of DeLorean Motor Company planning to take over Pontiac Solstice. “JZD [John Zachary DeLorean] always said that the best memories of his automotive career were at Pontiac, and that connection between JZD and Pontiac is probably one of the better known associations among car enthusiasts,” said DMC's vice president, James Espey. DeLorean’s Facebook page states the same message which also carries a Pontiac Solstice-looking roadster. Even DeLorean’s website carries a news link and a banner ad about “NewDeLorean.com.” All subtle hints enough to make rumor-mongers to work overtime!

DMC is planning to buy back the brand as well as the platform and plant from General Motors and reinstate itself as a new DMC brand. The current management at DMC is contemplating whether the original owner of the company, who had a long relationship with Pontiac, would have tried to save the dying motor division. The company has reportedly acquired a Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe for closer consideration but a full view still remains hazy about the complete take over.
