Delhi Auto Expo – Suzuki and Ducati

Premium bikes or super bikes are in demand in India and that encourages bike manufacturers in India to introduce premium bikes in India that attract 113 percent import duty. Bikes with 500cc to 2500 cc engine capacity fall in the category of superbikes and sell for Rs 10-60 lakh in the country. The largest selling bike amongst all is Rs. 12.5 lakh Hayabusa.

Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Limited is 100% owned subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corp., Japan. The company is quickly increasing its market share in India. It now intends to introduce premium bikes in over 1000cc range. It aims to sells 150 units annually. “The superbike demand in India is consistently growing,” said Suzuki Motorcycle India marketing & sales Vice-President Atul Gupta. Apart from its superbikes, Suzuki is also expected to introduce a 150cc bikes in India along with a gearless scooter.

Ducati currently sells its bikes for Rs. 14-60 lakh in India. The company intends to open more dealerships and intends to sells over 150 bikes in India. Its latest models and complete product line up will be on display at the Delhi Auto Expo including Ducati Monster S4RS Testastretta, 1098cc Ducati Superbike, Ducati Hypermotard 1100S, 1198cc Ducati Superbike 1098R and 848cc Ducati Superbike.
