Delhi Auto Expo – Mercedes

30 December, 2009, 10:10 IST by Satish Kalepu

Mercedes Benz India Limited lost its number one position to BMW India this year. Now the company is planning some important launches in the next year to claim its throne. On the very first day of the show, Mercedes will showcase its high end limousine for its premium luxury car buyers. It will launch its brand new C250 CGI new generation sports model in India. It will be the first Mercedes CGI model in the country that will feature 1796cc turbo-charged direct injection petrol engine.

Mercedes had not introduced this model earlier owing to the poor quality of fuel in India. Now with the changing scenario and better fuel options, the company intends to introduce models delivering power more than 200bhp as well as better fuel efficiency. Mercedes CGI generates a max power of 204bhp and 31.6kgm of torque. It is capable of attaining a top speed of 240kph and reach 0-100kph in 7.4 seconds.

Mercedes also plans to launch new GL-class model at the Delhi Auto Expo. It will be a crossover SUV powered with a 3.5-L V6 engine that generates 268 HP mated to a seven-speed transmission. The model will compete with Audi Q7 in the Indian market and will feature automatic transmission with 4WD, big boot and bold exteriors.
