Chevrolet Unwraps New Models for the World
Note: this article is about Chevrolet's international models. It may provide insight to future India developments but not more than that.
Chevrolet unveiled its new hatchback model at the Detroit Auto Show 2010. The model is an upgraded concept model of Aveo. The current model of Aveo had received a fair amount of criticism from auto critics and customers alike. The model is said to lack fun factor, competitiveness and a neat design and style.
“We hope the Aveo RS show car will demonstrate that we are as serious about redefining the Aveo and its place in the small-car segment as we were about reinventing the Malibu,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet General Manager.
The new model is expected to be powered by 1.4-liter I-4 Ecotec engine producing maximum power of 138 bhp that will also power the new Chevrolet Cruze. The new Aveo RS model is also accentuated with metallic and blue styling in the interiors.
Chevrolet also introduced the new 2011 Spark in the US market which will be placed below Aveo when it goes on sale in 2011. The European model of Spark has already debuted at the Geneva Motor Show and will be available later in Europe and then in other global regions. The new model will be powered by 1.0 and 1.2-liter 16-valve four-cylinder double overhead camshaft gasoline engines, delivering excellent fuel efficiency and low emissions. Note that the International Spark is the Indian Chevrolet Beat.
