Chevrolet Electric Spark from General Motors | Delhi Auto Expo 2010
General Motors unveiled its future technology car at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. It showcased its electric edition of its small car model Chevrolet Spark at the Auto Expo. The model has been christened as Chevrolet e-Spark. The new electric variant will be launched in the Indian market later this year.
General Motors has already inked its MoU with Reva Electric Car Company to use their electric car technology to manufacture its e-Spark model. The car goes into production in the second half of 2010 and is expected in the market in October. The car is expected to be priced at Rs. 7 lakh. “We are looking at initially manufacturing 5,000 units of the car. The car will roll out from our Talegaon, Maharashtra facility from October this year,” said General Motors in an official statement.
Spark is the first four-seater electric car model in India. So far Reva sells two-seater electric models in certain parts of the country. The e-Spark will come equipped with remote diagnostics system that will allow Service Engineers to monitor each car remotely for vital parameters and customers can be informed in advance if the need arises. This will minimize vehicle downtime and allow for advance readiness for vehicle servicing prior to arrival at service stations.
