General Motors India has launched its latest small car model in India – the Chevrolet Beat. This is the second small car model from General Motors after Spark. Chevrolet Beat competes with popular car models of local players like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors and comes with an extremely competitive price tag starting at Rs. 3.34 – 4.5 lakh (ex showroom).

The new Beat comes in petrol as well as diesel version with three variants. The base model comes with power steering and rear folding seat while the top end model Beat LT comes with rear power windows, tilt steering, roof rails and more. ABS and air bags are optional.

Another standout in the car is the concealed door handle in the C-pillar of the car.

The new Beats sports a tough and robust design and has the strongest body in its segment with 66.5 percent body covered with high steel strength and 16 percent made from extremely high quality steel. The company claims a mileage of 14kmpl in the city and 18kmpl on the highways. The model is available in seven colours - Olympic White, Linen Beige, Caviar Black, Misty Lake, Moroccan Blue, Green Cocktail and Super Red.

From the initial looks, the Beat looks like a crushed cockroach from the back ! It resembles the similar looks of Maruti Ritz ! Let's see the model when available in show rooms....

"....The automaker will also bring in the diesel version of the Beat later this year, Mr Slym said, adding the lastest offering from the company's stable will be manufactured at its Talegaon plant in Maharashtra, where it has commenced second shift operations.
''In the diesel version, we will use the brand new diesel engine produced at our powertrain facility at Talegaon,'' Mr Slym said.
