BMW – Mercedes Sales War Grows in India

Mercedes Benz in India lost its number one position in India last year to BMW. Mercedes has begun the New Year with robust sales and is making every effort to gain back its old status quo. Mercedes announced that its sales in the first two months of 2010 have grown by 157 percent selling total 842 units in Jan-Feb 2010.

"So far, we have registered a good start to the year 2010 and February sales have been encouraging," Mercedes-Benz India managing director and CEO, Wilfried Aulbur, said in a statement in Mumbai.

Mercedes introduced two new variants of its E-class models in India E 250V6 and E 250CDI to the existing line-up of E 350 and E 350CDI. Later it introduced the S-Guard model especially designed for the bureaucrats and top professionals asking for security vehicles. Mercedes also introduced C 250 in line with C 220CDI and the C 2000 Kompressor.
