BMW India announced its annual results recently stating that the company emerged as India’s top most luxury car maker with a jump of 33.78 percent at 3,619 units in 2009. "With 3,619 cars delivered to customers in 2009, BMW India has achieved the highest sales by a manufacturer in the luxury car segment in a year till date," it added.
BMW increased its luxury market share to 40 percent in India in the calendar year 2009. It just had 6 percent share in 2006 and experienced tough competition from Mercedes. Now with the sales of 3619 units in a year it becomes the luxury car maker to achieve the highest sales in the luxury car segment in a year till date.

BMW is planning a gala event at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo as well. It intends to showcase its new SUV Gran Tourismo for the Indian customers. It will also showcase new BMW X6 M and the new BMW 760Li at India’s biggest auto event. The new BMW X1 will also be on display which the company intends to launch by the end of 2010.
