Named RE 60, the car is expected to challenge the supremacy of Maruti Suzuki 800 and Tata Nano in India. Before explaining the pros and cons of Bajaj RE60, analysing the technicalities of its competitors is of utmost importance.

Maruti Suzuki 800, one of the most successful cars in India, has been ruling the passenger car market since 1983. Due to its low price tag, most middle class buyers can easily afford this compact car. As per records, the company has sold more than 1 crore vehicles in India, a reflection on its success. Loaded with a 796 cc engine, the car is able to deliver decent performance by generating 37 bhp power. Owing to its huge success in the Indian automobile market, Maruti Suzuki went ahead and launched the LPG variant of its 800 model.
The year 2009 brought a tough time for Maruti Suzuki 800 as its strongest competitor Nano was launched by Tata Motors. Being the world’s cheapest car, Tata Nano had an edge over its competitors in terms of pricing, which helped Tata register decent sales figures. While choosing between Maruti Suzuki 800 and Tata Nano, people give more the latter weightage in terms of price and design. Loaded with a 2 cylinder, MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection) petrol engine, the Nano offers decent performance. The 624 cc engine of this car delivers 34 hp power at 5250 rpm. The company has provided an attractive look to this compact car, which is better than that of Maruti Suzuki 800.
Nano, one of the existing competitors of Bajaj RE60 car, also has well finished interiors. It is a four-seater and it comes with adjustable seats, which can be slided back and front. Apart from its comfort features, Tata Nano excels in terms of mileage. The car delivers mileage of 26 kmpl on highways and 19 kmpl on city roads.
Bajaj RE 60, which is expected to be the strongest competitor of Maruti Suzuki 800 and Tata Nano in the Indian market, will also lure the car lovers with its fuel efficiency. As per Bajaj, the car delivered an astounding mileage of 40 kmpl under testing conditions. However, in regular driving conditions, buyers can expect mileage of close to 35 kmpl on highway, which is more than that of Maruti Suzuki 800 and Tata Nano. Lower emissions would be another USP of Bajaj RE 60, which would boost its sales in India. Emission will be 60 g of CO2 per km by the 200 cc engine of this car. In spite of being a new entrant in the four-wheeler market, Bajaj Auto has delivered an excellent look to its first compact car. Body coloured bumpers and stylish wheels add to the appealing look of the vehicle.
Interiors of Bajaj RE 60 will feature folding front windows, central speedometer cluster, prominent seatbelts in cabin and 44-litre boot space. The digital twin spark tech engine is expected to deliver decent performance on all types of terrains. By introducing the fuel injected CNG variant of Bajaj RE 60, the company plans to attract customers who opt for Maruti Suzuki 800 CNG. It is expected that the new water-cooled DTSi 4 (Digital Twin Spark Ignition) engine will help it accelerate to 70 kmph. The company has not provided any specific details regarding the pricing of this four-seater, though it is expected that Bajaj RE 60 will compete with Tata Nano in terms of price.
The specifications have been detailed in the table below:

Bajaj named this 4 wheeler wrongly. Since success of pulsar, all DTSi engines found their way into different class of 2 wheeler segments of Bajaj - starting from 100 cc to 220 cc.in fact, there are different flavors of pulsar these days.So i would see this 4 wheeler as a new segment to pulsar. So let Bajaj rename it as another Pulsar..hehehe

Friends, Rajiv Bajaj has never said that he has made car. He named it as Four Wheeler. As planned like a alternative for Rixa, it will really be successful since people would prepare something close rather than open Rixa (atleast to save themselves from rain and cold)As far as the comparison goes, I believe none could beat M800. Maruti discontinue that model mainly because it is not profitable enough now to meet economics. Though Indians like chip still they look for something reliable because of which M800 was able to rule Indian road so far and Nano has failed here miserably in terms of cost and reliability both.

I think Maruti 800 is the largest selling car in Asian country, but TATA nana is really a good car it has good space, nice interior and nice mileage it is the best car for the city rider & for a small family 600CC engine can work properly but it is a new segment car which has good result I don't think that 300cc or 400cc engine can work in Indian market it will have good sales in future

LAUNCHING PE DISCOUNT......MUFT HI LE JAVO
January 05, 2012 by Shriram Jahagirdar
-
Very rightly said Shiv. I think you are the only one who has correctly understood the concept.Every one should clearly keep in mind this before booking it otherwise the Nano Story will repeat........Nano was booked by thousands of people who just wanted a CAR in 100,000 INR & expecting the comfort & other features of Mercedes Benz or BMW.The hype so badly created & those customers faced a sheer disappointment after launch of Nano, the basic reason behind Nano's dipped sales is on this account. One must understand What to expect from Whom & at What Cost
January 05, 2012 by Shriram Jahagirdar
-
What else can be expected from a 200 CC Engine & a 4 Speed Manual Gear Box. RE-60 is a means of transport for moving in city traffic with moderate speed with protection from sun & rain. You can not expect CAR features from this product with basic provision , as adding any more features will keep on mounting the cost, however bajaj team must be appreciated for developing the product & motivate them to go ahead with giving more advanced products in future.
January 05, 2012 by Shriram Jahagirdar
-
Seating Capacity of RE-60 is 4 including Driver.
January 05, 2012 by Shriram Jahagirdar
-
Nano & M-800 can be compared but RE-60 can not be included in this comparison because it can not be designated as a CAR, even bajaj has never said that it is a CAR. It is a FOUR Wheeled means of transport for moving in the city traffic & smaller lanes at a moderate speed. It can provide a protected ride to the user from Sun & Rain.Comparing a 800 cc / 624 cc & a 200 cc engined vehicles is no good. Anyway we must appreciate the efforts put in by bajaj team & motivate them to provide a still better vehicle in future & keep on improving further.

Here in RE-60 itis a 200 cc engine. In regular petrol engine bajaj auto ,it has only 150 cc Engine, in that minumum 15 people travel in rajasthan.

On the basis of limited information the vehicle appears to create sensation when hits on the Road. The technical information is not complete. More details is needed. While I am sure the company who has made huge impact on the Two Wheeler industry is definitely aware of its responsibilities to counter the competition. I am interested to know more about this vehicle to enable book one for me.

This is a bit misguided notion. Bajaj is not pitching this car in the regular car market, it is aiming to replace the aging and often uncomfortable 3 wheelers with the RE.
