Bajaj Discover DTS-Si Emerges As Popular Choice

13 March, 2010, 10:10 IST by Payal Pathak

Bajaj Auto is India’s largest two wheeler manufacturer and has more reasons to rejoice now. Bajaj has sold 5 lakh units of its popular 100cc bike Discover DST-Si in a span of mere 225 days. Bajaj also sold Pulsar 135LS model in record numbers which has enabled it to capture 27.3 percent market share in February in the Indian two wheeler market. This Bajaj has emerged as the highest selling brand in overall two-wheeler categories. It also emerged as a leader in West Bengal and complete North East region amongst all other two-wheeler manufacturers.

"We were unable to meet the demand in February and there was a stock-out situation in some dealerships,” said Bajaj Auto's Chief Executive Oficer (Two Wheeler) S Sridhar.

Bajaj had introduced Discover DTS-Si 100cc model in July last year. It is available in five colors at a price of Rs. 41,736 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bajaj Discover DTS-Si Electric start is powered by 94.38 cc engine that delivers power of 7.7 bhp @7500 rpm and a maximum torque figure of 7.85@ 5000 rpm. It features 5-speed manual transmission and delivers around 65 kmpl milage. Bajaj has already increased its production from 75,000 units to 100,000 units but still falls short of meeting the demands of Indian customers.
