Auto Subsidiary in India from Cosma International
Cosma international is planning to set up a new auto subsidiary in Pune in India. It will be a wholly owned subsidiary specialising in making auto component for body parts of automobiles. Klaus W Niemeyer, GM of Cosma International, told the reporters that Cosma Body Parts bagged orders from European car manufacturers to set up a plant in India.
“The proposed facility will start with assembly operations of sheet metal stampings sourced from local vendors and supplied to customers. Over a period of time, it will start stamping operations and supplying body systems,” said Niemeyer. “In addition to the European customers, Cosma is in advanced level of talks with a few passenger car manufacturers in India. The vehicle manufacturers have evinced interest in sourcing structural components such as instrument panel beams, cradles, IT beams and cockpit panels,” he added.
Cosma has its manufacturing units in Bangalore to support Magna group’s global requirements. CTO of Magna America stated that their group is keen on capitalizing traditional strength of Indian automotive industry that marks its strong presence in metal works. The new subsidiary will make lift gates and pre-painted sheets that are the latest manufacturing development in the auto industry.
