Bajaj Auto, the leading two wheeler manufacturer had their interpretation of a car called the Bajaj RE60 at the 2012 Auto Expo. RE is a name that normally comes with their 3 wheelers which has now found is way on the 4-wheeled vehicle too. Something that needs a personal mention is that the young gentleman from Bajaj, who was hovering the yellow colored RE60 was so busy entertaining the female visitors answering and solving their doubts and queries that others were turned a deaf ear.
The Bajaj RE60 as the name states is a (R) Rear (E) Engined vehicle that has an emission of 60g per km of CO2. The RE60 looks tiny and not so cute. The design of RE60 seems what a small kid would draw when asked to design a car. The straights and circles are so simple. The interiors are kept little more luxurious compared to the Autorickshaw. The tall lady model that Bajaj managed to get for the Bajaj RE60 looked cramped inside it, though she tried to keep the smile on.
The Bajaj RE60 is powered by a 200cc, Fuel Injected 4-valve Digital Twin Spark Engine. The engine produces 20bhp (speculated) and the car weighs 400 kgs,. The turning radius is shorter than the so long shortest claimed by Tata Nano at 3.5 meters. Fuel consumption is claimed to be around 40kmpl.This car if not for the price should not be compared with Tata Nano at all.
The Bajaj RE60 will be manufactured at the same Aurangabad plant where it manufactures its 3 wheelers and will be exported too.

As per photographs it looks nice. If it is sold on easy instalment with down payment of Rs. 15000/- it will be helpful to purchaser (middle class). If it will run on road without any problem and much sound like tempo (three wheeler) then it will pick up the market.

from the looks of it and keeping in mind various facts, one can expect a price of around 90k only. Reason- 200cc engine, very low kerb weight, seating for four, existing facility expansion, virtually little modification from existing facilities,etc
