Audi drives in an all new variant of A8L 4.2L TDI in India

Audi India, the Indian arm of the globally acclaimed premium car maker, is spearheading to launch an all new variant to its flagship full size sedan, Audi A8 in the country. The new variant, Audi A8 L 4.2L TDI will hit the Indian market today and will be an addition to the currently available, 3.0 TDI quattro, 4.2 FSI petrol and W12 quattro as the base, mid and top end variants.

The company is anticipated to position the new variant in between the 4.2 FSI and 6.3 W12 variants. The new variant of Audi A8 is powered with a 4.2 liter V8 turbo diesel churning out a peak power of 340 PS and a peak torque of 760 Nm. The engine is capable of accelerating the car from a standstill to 100 kmph in matter of just 5.5 seconds and the sedan can attain a top speed of 250 kmph. In a bid to ramp up the car’s performance, the 4.2L TDI quattro engine has been aptly mated to a eight speed sequential automatic transmission and a quattro all wheel drive system.

Audi has said in a statement, "The new A8 continues to lead the Audi shift into the midsized-to-large luxury vehicle segments in Model Year 2012 with a new flagship model, enhanced interior options, and standard Audi connect online car services."

The new variants will don superior features such as four zone auto AC, head up display unit, dynamic steering, Bang and Olufsen sound system and two piece panoramic sunroof. The interior of this new variant embodies an exclusively designed ergonomic seats in all the driver and passenger seats along with an rear seat entertainment system. Modern safety attributes such as ABS, airbags and traction control find an apt place in the new Audi A8.
