      The Mercedes-Benz S W221 was unveiled at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, while the sales began an year after. This car is a synonym for luxury and is claimed to be the world’s best luxury sedan. It is a flagship vehicle from the Bavarian manufacturer, and each generation of the saloon offers a range of technical innovations and development. The S W221 is the successor of the S-Class W220, and is the predecessor of the S-Class W222. The standard COMAND system controls various features including HVAC system and seat controls.

      The W221 S-Class has a completely different exterior styling compared to the previous W220. In order to offer luxurious cabin, the dimensions of the sedan were increased. The cabin of the luxury saloon is also different and fully loaded. Its interiors are dominated by leather, wood and lots of gizmos to play with. Its instrument cluster has two large flat panel screens, one for the hard disk based COMAND system and the other displays a range of additional features including Night View Assist display. The steering wheel of the sedan has various control buttons for the volume, telephone control, cluster display, etc. Other functions include speedtronic and cruise control. Controls for the interior lighting and panoramic roof are placed on the roof.

      The Mercedes-Benz S-Class saloon is available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the diesel version is propelled by a 3.0-litre unti that churns out a maximum power output of 255bhp at 3600rpm and a peak torque of 620Nm at 1600rpm, the gasoline unit is the 4663cc motor that is good for 453bhp and 700Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels of the car via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
