      • Checking the Antifreeze: In few cases, the car might get heated when the antifreeze is not properly circulating. The antifreeze basically serves two purposes – maintaining the engine temperature during winters and preventing the overheating of car is summers. To check if the antifreeze is working properly, user can check if his/her car is leaving any drips or stains on the roads. Furthermore, excessive usage of the vehicle, evaporation from heat and time can also be the causes of this liquid getting drained. The owner should be careful about the same and should keep a check of the antifreeze level on regular basis.

      • Inspecting the Radiator: Overheating can also be caused when the radiator cooling fan is not working properly. One can check this manually by switching on the air conditioner when the car is idle and waiting for the cooling fan to come in play. If the fan does not start working after a while, then it means that it needs repair. The local workshop or the car's authorised service station can be contacted to fix this problem. In long run, the radiator core can also become clogged due to oxidation or catching sludge material. People can make use of a superior quality radiator flush or can replace the entire radiator system is the problem is prolonging.

      • Examining the Head Gasket: At times, while travelling on a long journey, people can spot fumes of smoke coming out of the bonnet. This generally happens when the coolant starts spilling on the engine or cylinder, indicating that the head gasket is blown. The same can also be witnessed when the car starts leaving traces of puddles on the road or while parking. The coolant container should be examined in such cases and should be replaced to avoid any further damage to the car.

There are also few Do It Yourself (DIY) tips and tricks, which can be used to resolve the issue of overheating manually.

      1. Switch of the air conditioner of the car if the temperature gauge is directing towards the hot level. The AC unite put sufficient load on the car's engine and makes it get heated in a quick span; therefore, switching it off will help in getting rid of the problem.

      2. There is also another trick, which might come handy to quickly cool down the car when no help is arriving. The driver can switch on the heater of the car at full fan speed and pint the air-vents in the direction of the windows. The heater of the car uses the engine's heat to warm the insides and switching it on will absorb a considerable amount of heat from the engine; thus cooling the car down quickly.

During traffic, the driver should turn off the car but switch it on at the ignition mode. Doing this will eradicate overheating as in the ignition mode, the car's radiator and blower will be working constantly to maintain the temperature of the coolant.
