Hi Experts, I have Swift VXI-2006 model. Initially It ran 22k kms on petrol, and In Jan2010 CNG -BRC kit was fitted and further 68k kms covered (total 90000 kms). Since last 2 months Car engine suddenly starts jerking, mis-firing, and looses its pick up. Engine knocking starts. The engine was de-carbonised, but problem still persists. mechanic said the problem cud be due to CNG kit, CNG kit was serviced twice, after that CNG people asked to change Ignitor assy,Cables,Spark plugs etc.if problem still not solved, may be engine valve head sitting to be corrected. My daily running is appx 75kms. please suggest proper solution, whether to go a head with repairs or switch over to Diesel, if so plz recommed couple of options.....Thanx

Hi,
Considering overall conditions and probable repair costs.Better idea lies in selling it and going for new diesel version car like Chevrolet Beat diesel or Indica eV2 Diesel. Posted: 292 day(s) ago |

As an expert we expect better answers than to sell it. Your evaluation of the problem may be helpful to others with similar probs

Thanx Mr Shiva, I tried Beat, it was indeed good experience, but sitting is very low, more over people say 3 years later its too expensive to maintain.. Even for Indica general openion is not very encouraging. I prefer car with max ground clearance, as Car has to daily cover appx 10 kms on rough road with pot holes. I have to also avoid lower sitting due to back pain. Please suggest best among Ritz, WW Polo, Liva,Figo, or any other make you suggest......

I suspect you are experiencing air being drawn into the intake, for that one would have to inspect many, many things. It could be the brake vacuum booster, it could be the one way valve at the intake manifold, it could be ECU or any of the sensors. A really good mechanic is what you need.

i do not want to sound as harsh as Mr Minoo shroff but i find his answers really practical and to the point ,selling a car just bcoz it has developed a certain problem is no solution and what if the nextbuyer asks the same question again from our expert Mr shiva as written earlier i really find a very nonserious approach towards answering the querries by the experts maybe its bcoz of other important things they are doing and it interests them more than answering our question.

Hi,
With the details of problem facing with the present condition of car, there is need for major repair/overhaul of engine Head assembly and CNG kit, fuel supply system,.As most of repairs are already carried out, the further inspection and repair is essential. Considering the repair costs involved and re occurrence of similar problems after few thousand of KM of usage, recommended to sell the car.One can get best price only with car in fairly good condition hence repair is essential. Later on the car can be sold and going for new diesel car would give comfortable usage and long term utility. http://www.cartrade.com/auto-guides/fitment-of-cng-kit-calculations-and-explanations-113872.html Posted: 291 day(s) ago |

Hi,
As you are not satisfied with Beat and Indica, best alternative would be that of Ford Figo diesel. Posted: 291 day(s) ago |

If you are going to edit our replies, you are acting like our Government.
Since you cannot accept the truth hence you delete it. I would like to know if you are still going to edit our letters, we will stop giving our opinion and you can go on expounding people to buy Tata cars. Regards Posted: 291 day(s) ago |

Over a period of time I have noticed that the expert's advice is seldom analytic and practical.

Hi,
As mentioned in the question, there is need of major repairs. In question its is also mentioned of probable usage and comfortable utility in long term.Taking all these points into consideration I have given the answer. Mr Minoo Shroff..We do consider feedback's positively.I have given the explanation/justification you were seeking for. I do agree there are some limitations in posting answers for pure technical problems such as... To give exact estimation one has to check out the car in person,do the estimation etc. What I can tell is the summarized solution for particular question. Posted: 291 day(s) ago |

So Mr. Expert lets get to the nitty gritty some readers feel you do not give and I quote"Over a period of time I have noticed that the expert's advice is seldom analytic and practical" by Mr.Robin Ii really find a very nonserious approach towards answering the querries by the experts maybe its bcoz of other important things they are doing and it interests them more than answering our question. by Mr.Rajiv. You have evaded my question as to how you 'CLAIM" to be an expert? Your answers to any technical query is so vague it does not qualify as an answer and in no way helpful to the person who has asked the question nor to the people who hope to gain some insight to the question. Lets have some more wishy washy answers to my letter.

Hi,
As far as the question of other owner asking the same question is concerned, the answer would be the same.If there is option for selling or using the same condition car(after considerable usage of car with CNG kit fitment). The best option with view of comfort and trouble free usage by the customer and for long term utility would be to go for a diesel version car.I'm of the opinion that ultimately what matters is the satisfaction of the particular person with his car. There is always scope for improvement, that too in technical things.I'm taking all comments positively and trying to provide best solutions. Posted: 290 day(s) ago |
